I know, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Wha? This is not a Flash site! Don’t you liek Flash, Dan??”
I do like Flash, for the most part… when it treats me right. You see, Flash is like a delicate flower… I mean, *ahem* let me start over.
My name is Danro*. I’ve been designing and programming user experiences since 1998. For those of you who like to keep track, I’ve been doing Flash since version 4.0… and for those of you not paying attention, that’s like an entire century in internet years. Over the course of that intercentury, I have developed quite a number of web sites, a few interactive cd-roms, touch-screen interfaces and animated product demos. I have also been fortunate enough to work with some great brands including Apple, HP, Intel, Motorola, NBBJ and Nokia. Good stuff!
I have a passion for user interface which probably stems from the fact that I have been interacting with electronic interfaces for as long as I can remember (hi mom). It doesn’t matter whether I am building a corporate UI or constructing a sweet Line Rider course, I feel that the ultimate reward in my work comes from providing someone with a positive experience. Personally, I see video gaming as a solid example of a rewarding electronic user experience. They provide context, direction and reward. As an interactive designer I find a great deal of inspiration from playing games. Not only that, I do enjoy blowing stuff up.
Anyway, to your first question, no this is not a Flash site. This is technically a blog, although you won’t find me ranting about how much I hate full-screen javascript popups (grrr). This site is an attempt to wrangle some of my past projects and provide an archive going forward as I keep you, the fine people of the internet, informed of my recent happenings. I truly enjoy what I do for a living, and it is my hope that you are able to see that sentiment echoed in my work.
